Volunteering Terms

These Volunteering Terms apply to volunteers that apply to be involved in One Day Off through the One Day Off website (http://onedayoff.org/volunteer) (“you” / “your”).  These Volunteering Terms form a binding contract between you and Caring for Carers Australia Limited (Caring for Carers or “we” / “us” / “our”).

Please see our Website Terms of Use for terms applicable to your use of the Website, and our Fundraising Terms for the terms applicable to the One Day Off campaign.

1 Acceptance of these Volunteering Terms

1.1 If you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain a parent or guardian’s consent before applying to be a volunteer.

1.2 By submitting your details on our ‘volunteer’ page, you accept these Volunteering Terms as updated from time to time.  If you do not agree with these Volunteering Terms (including any amendments to these terms), please let us know.  You may not be able to continue being a volunteer with us if you do not accept all these Terms.

1.3 We may update or amend these Volunteering Terms from time to time by posting terms on the One Day Off website.  We will let our current volunteers know when we make changes.

2 About One Day Off and volunteering

(i) allows Carers and Champions to raise money through the One Day Off website; and

(ii) allows Caring for Carers to use that money to fund a support person to look after the Carer’s loved one while the Carer has One Day Off.

2.1 One Day Off is a campaign run by Caring for Carers which:

2.2 As a volunteer, you may be involved in administrative or fundraising work associated with the One Day Off campaign.

3 Your responsibilities

3.1 We want to make sure we provide a safe space for you to volunteer with us.  Please make sure you tell us anything we need to know about you to make sure we provide a safe space for you, such as any access requirements you have.

3.2 You must be respectful and courteous as a Caring for Carers volunteer, and you must not bring Caring for Carers or the One Day Off campaign into disrepute.

3.3 You must not represent Caring for Carers except as authorised by Caring for Carers within the scope of your volunteering work.

3.4 You must not engage in any harassment, discrimination, physical or verbal abuse, other forms of misconduct or any unlawful activity as a Caring for Carers volunteer.

3.5 You must follow all directions given to you by Caring for Carers personnel in relation to your volunteering work.

3.6 You must be responsible in your use of Caring for Carers resources.

3.7 You must adhere to all Caring for Carers’ privacy requirements (including its Privacy Policy) when managing personal information held by Caring for Carers.  In particular, you must only use personal information to fulfil your volunteering work, and not for any other purpose.  You must not take personal copies of any Caring for Carers information (including personal information held by Caring for Carers) without Caring for Carers’ prior, written consent.

3.8 If you create content for Caring for Carers or the One Day Off campaign, you must ensure that you do not infringe any other person’s intellectual property rights.  You grant Caring for Carers an irrevocable, transferable, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence (including the right to sub-licence) to content you create as a volunteer for Caring for Carers.  You allow Caring for Carers to use such content for any purpose, and you allow Caring for Carers to make derivative works from such content.

3.9 If you create content for Caring for Carers or the One Day Off campaign, you grant us (and our licensees, successors in title and authorised agents) consent to do or omit to do any act which would otherwise infringe your moral rights under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) in relation to all works you make in the course of your volunteering.

4 No monetary compensation

4.1 All services provided by volunteers are voluntary on the part of the volunteer, and Caring for Carers is unable to compensate volunteers monetarily or in-kind in any manner for costs incurred or time spent.

5 Privacy and personal information

5.1 When you provide information to us in the course of using One Day Off, you consent to us using it in accordance with our Privacy Policy at [insert link]

5.2 When you provide us your information, you consent to us sending you information on other services available for Carers from time to time.  If you wish to unsubscribe from such communications, please let us know by contacting us at wecare@caringforcarersau.org.

6 Ending your volunteering

6.1 You can end your volunteering time with us at any time.

6.2 We sincerely appreciate you offering to volunteer with us.  Because we need to balance the work we have, we reserve the right to stop scheduling work or cease your volunteering engagement at any time and for any reason.
